It’s been a busy year for LMG and our focus remains on construction completion and commissioning our Stage 1, Demonstration Plant in the Latrobe Valley.
We eagerly await the GHD work to determine the amount of fly ash that can safely be removed from the Yallourn landfill, ultimately determining the exact output of our Stage 2, 10,000+ commercial plant.
Our 100,000 tpa mega-plant in Malaysia is our third staged project in our expansion pathway with respective land and project applications underway with local authorities along with preparations of signing non-binding Memorandum of Understanding (MoUs) with potential equity partners.
The second civil works packages have been completed including: Scrubber Bund, SCM Silo Slab, RO Plant Formwork and Magnesite Holding Tank Bund Formwork.
Thanks to A.E. engineers, our Ash Hopper and Materials Handling Conveyor System has been delivered on site, with the Mincore Site team completing the structural steel erection and mechanical equipment install. Speaking of install...All switchrooms have also successfully been installed on site with MCC equipment installed inside!
LMG CEO David Paterson and Director of LMG Sarawak Peter Church, visited Malaysia and discussed with Deputy Chief Minister of Sarawak, Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan and many other ministers about our Stage 3 100,000 tpa project.
China are currently dominating global production of Magnesium with 88% of the market supply. Magnesium’s high strength to weight ratio makes it the obvious choice for the future of car production and lightweighting.
Latrobe Magnesium production of magnesium will diversify away from China and improve Western supply chains.
